Glenn Shadix, 1952-2010

Tragic news: actor and Tim Burton collaborator Glenn Shadix passed away. He was 58 years old, and died in his home in Alabama. Here is the information from his official website:

"It is with great sadness and pain that the family of William G. “Glenn Shadix” Scott announces his passing this morning.

A memorial service will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church, 2865 Old Rocky Ridge Road, Birmingham, on Saturday, September 11th at 2 p.m.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Glenn’s name to the Theatre Department of the Alabama School of Fine Arts, 1800 8th Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35203."

Glenn Shadix is best known for his role as the pompous interior decorator in Tim Burton's 1988 film, Beetlejuice. He also appeared in Burton's Planet of the Apes in 2001, supplied his voice for the Mayor in The Nightmare Before Christmas, and lent his voice to the early flash animation series The World of Stainboy, created by Tim Burton in 2000.

Beetlejuice was released in 1988, not 98'.

Shocked to hear this news. I was hoping they would collaborate for a fourth time. That's obviously not going to happen now.

Sorry if this is not the place to suggest news stories, but I have just found this gem of a short film by artist Ken Turner, called Tim. A tribute to Burton, and done in the vein of Vincent, it's purpose is to honor Burton and movies.

You should definitely post this. Here's the link:

Agreed with Bill. It would been good to hear his voice in Frankenweenie.
RIP Glenn.
