Casting Call for Lead Role in Burton's "Miss Peregrine's"

Want to star in a Tim Burton movie? A casting notice for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children has been released. The film has Tim Burton attached as director with Jane Goldman writing the script based on original book by Ransom Riggs. The project description is: "The book tells the tale of a boy who, following a horrific family tragedy, follows clues that take him to an abandoned orphanage on a Welsh island."

They are seeking a role for the lead character of Jacob, to be played by an 18-year-old male of any ethnicity. Here is a description of the role: "Jacob is an outsider in his Florida town. Wears odd vintage clothes, as if from another era. After the traumatic & mysterious death of his beloved grandfather leaves him troubled, he sets off in search for answers to the story of his eastern European grandfather. Seeking 18, to play 17."

Shooting begins in August 2014, and the casting notice expires on May 19th, so if you're in the UK and interested, check it out! Here is the article from Backstage.com: http://www.backstage.com/casting/miss-peregrines-home-for-peculiar-children-30880/

"Peregrine's Home for Peculiars" Gets July 2015 Release Date

We haven't heard a lot about the feature film adaption of Ransom Riggs' debut young adult novel, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, in quite a while. But finally, we have some news. The Hollywood Reporter states that Fox has already given the movie a release date: July 31st, 2015.

Fox has also given the film a slightly more digestible title: Peregrine's Home for Peculiars. Tim Burton is still attached to direct the film, and is supposed to do so after having completed Big Eyes (which will begin shooting in Vancouver this July). Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, Stardust, X-Men: First Class) has written the most recent version of the screenplay.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that, "the story follows a teenage boy who is transported to an island where he must help protect a group of orphans with special powers from creatures out to destroy them."

Goldman on "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children"

Screenwriter Jane Goldman recently spoke with Ology.com. In the interview, Goldman talked several of her possible future projects, including an adaptation of the book Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which might be directed by Tim Burton.

Can you tell me more about these other projects?

What I'm working on at the moment is an adaptation of the book Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and that's with Fox. It's very exciting, Tim Burton is overseeing the job which is massively exciting. I'm really excited about the source material. It's a quirky story with some scary elements and some funny elements. I'm having a really good time with it right now. And the other one is this sort of science fiction movie which is based on a new comic book that I absolutely fell in love with. Science fiction is another genre that I love so the year is shaping up to be a really good year.

What's your dream cast for Miss Peregrine's?

Gosh, I don't know, a lot of the cast is very young. I always try to not think about casting because you might end up disappointed. You don't want to get too attached to an idea because it's kind of up to the director. I have to say that I've loved the casting on everything I've worked on. I haven't really thought about the cast for Peregrine, but if Mr. Burton decides to sign on in directing his casting choices are always perfect.

Burton in Talks to Direct "Peculiar Children" Adaptation

Tim Burton is in talks to direct a feature-length adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, the Ransom Riggs novel that 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment acquired last spring. The talks are only in their early stages, but Burton would be involved with finding a writer to pen the screenplay, reports Deadline.com. Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping will produce.

The story follows a 16-year-old boy named Jacob, who travels to the old Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, the orphanage his grandfather told him tall tales about, and where he believes the dangerous, super-powered residents might still be lurking around.
