Filming of Stop-Motion "Frankenweenie" Soon?
Ain't It Cool News caught Don Hahn down at the SXSW festival during a Q&A for his new documentary, Waking Sleeping Beauty (which looks at the Disney renaissance of the 1980s and early 1990s, and features Tim Burton as a young animator). Hahn will be an executive producer for Tim Burton's forthcoming Frankenweenie, and mentioned the animated film.
Harry Knowles paraphrases Don Hahn, who said that "the puppets are ready, the script is done and now that Tim Burton is clear of Alice in Wonderland... he's set to helm Frankenweenie in 3D."
Tim Burton has been wanting to adapt his live-action short film Frankenweenie for over 25 years. The stop-motion version will be released in either 2011 or 2012. Filming will take place in London.

oh this is so exciting, i can't wait to see the puppets!
So, since it is a black in white film...how are thye going to make it 3-D? It sounds really cool a black in white 3-D film, but i don't see how its possible unless he remakes it in color. So, is it going to be puppets in color in 3-D? Either or, i can't wait to see it. I think it's a cute short film. :)
deadhearts666: Why wouldn't they be able to shoot in both stereoscopic 3D and black and white? Also, it should be noted that it hasn't been confirmed that "Frankenweenie" will be shot in black and white (but Burton is vying for it).
Fuzzy Duck: I guess they could shoot it both ways, i just would imagine it would be more difficult to make it in black and white. I dunno, i've never seen a black and white film in 3-D...lol...but i suppose there is a first for everything. :)
More info about "Maleficent" on MTV. Go here to find out more:

Has anyone else seen this? http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1930647
It's hilarious and pretty clever how they substituted the lyrics
Also, deadhearts666, remember they made 3D horror and sci-fi movies back in the old days of b&w film. of course, that was using the crappy red and blue glasses, but why wouldn't they be able to achieve it with the new 3D? And hopefully they shoot in 3D like Coraline rather than convert it later, because I think it appears a little out of focus and a bit unclear by comparison
