Burton to direct Killers video and Grim Fandango?

Burton will reportedly direct the video for The Killer's song "Read My Mind", which may excite some people. Anyone else remember the last time Burton was rumored to direct a music video (Madonna's "Bad Girl") but it fell though?
And in the crazy, unverified rumors department, Playfuls.com has the story that Burton will direct the feature film of the video game Grim Fandango after he completes Sweeney Todd. Sounds highly unlikely, but then so did the early rumors of him directing Sweeney.
Finally, some news we can confirm is that Burton will be at the 9th International Short Film Festival Expresion en Corto, in the cities of San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, Mexico from the 22th to the 29th of July, where his films will be honored and he will be part of a conference about "Breaking out" in cinema. Thanks to Pablo Daniel González Cortés for letting us know about this.

    I doubt either are true..
I hope his not doing this music video.. wouldn't mind to much if it was a band with alittle credibility but those guys? no way.

Plus He seemed to be piling on work.. remember his also working with Selick on this 3D Nightmare, Todd and possibly still within the Ripley discussions..

i hope he hasn't gone back on his work and become a 'directer for hire' again.. TV commercials are one thing.. but music vids for crappy bands is just to far.

I agree with wombstar, I don't like the sound of Burton doing a music video for The Killers.
I also don't expect it will happen.

I'm guessing the Grim Fandango film is just a rumour, though it would be a great opportunity. The game was pretty good.

Believe It or Not should be made first before Grim Fadango. Any casting ideas for it? Sweeney Todd will be great with Johnny in it, but how about Ewan McGregor as well?

Yep he's finally made up his mind. Sweeny Todd it is. I didn't really care which one got it.

Personally, I think Burton should stick to movies and not music videos. I don't really watch music videos anyway, movies are better.

YO BILL, the only movie I've seen with Ewan McGregor in it was Robots. That movie was good and funny, but then you put him in a scary musical?

  11. Well hey! I like Bill's idea. Ewan is a damn good singer. Didn't anyone see Moulin Rouge? He was great and he could do Sweeny Todd too. That would be amazing to see.

  24. I was at the conference and it was great!, the questions were not the smartest ones, but he was so thrilled to be in Guanajuato that it didn´t really matter.

Also, Mr Burton saw some movies at the cementery, where the mexican director Guillermo del Toro, made a special movie selection and we all enjoyed at 2 am.

He also visited the famous Mummy Museum in Guanajuato. He said to the mexican press that he will definetly do his next film about mummies.

He was supposed to go back on saturday, but that very same day we saw him at party on the tunnels. And aparently he will stay there for more couple of days.

    cheers.
