  2. Anonymous11:32 PM

^Tim isn't just letting them.. his DOING it.. with Selick.
i don't think you understand what t is they are doing.. this 3d version will be like being ON SET.
Any lover of stop motion would be in full support of this.. i am for the same reasons Henry Selick is.. to capture the energy of being on set and seeing theses stop motion characters as if they were really there.. or watching them being films.. Brilliant.

I hope it will play at my local theater. Why is everyone so down about this? I don't see this as a scam to make money. I see this as a great possibility.

Is that poster avalible anywhere, because it looks very awesome.

  7. Anonymous12:51 AM

I hope it's going to be in a theatre near me. I would definately go and waste money on it to see it... especially since when i saw it originally in the theatres, i was only like 9, so its not as great as it would be now... so cool... i am so going to buy it when it comes out on dvd.

  8. I think this will be cool, and I love that poter, but I don't like how Disney advertises it. I thought it was a Touchstone picture?? well either way, i'm going to see it :D

  9. Anonymous7:54 PM

I'm so giddy about this whole thing, if they do a midnight showing thing for this, I'm so going in costume!

    a scam to make money?
this is a business.. making money is the only reason most people do anything
if Disney didn't feel they would make any cash then they wouldn't do it.. and rightly so.
this is a money making move but its not a scam.. Waite till you see how brilliant stop motion looks in 3D.. it might make money but its also a real treat for stop motion fans,

I, for one, am completely jazzed about the idea of seeing our beloved Jack and the gang come to life on the silver screen. I was six when the film came out and never got a chance to see it in the theater, so this will be a GREAT experience for me. Plus, it's fun for me to watch Disney laud and plug a movie they originally rejected, lol ;)

  13. oh, i have a quick question. are the characters in the poster computer animated or the real puppets, cause some look kinda real, but some of them look like they were done on computer too. which one, just wondering?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anonymous1:41 PM

In response to two of jack's messages:

Firstly, Touchstone is a sub-company owned by Disney. So yeah, Touchstone produced the movie, but Touchstone IS Disney, so that's why they're advertising this now.

Secondly, I think that it's very likely that the characters in the poster are computer generated. Most posters nowadays don't use real images, but are heavily computer edited/"Photoshopped". It's easier to create the characters in the computer than to get all the puppets together, set them up in a mini-movie theatre and take a photo of it for the poster.

this is the best news ever.....just to see it on the big screen again...and imax 3d...be still my heart.....

for those of you against it, you have problems, big problems

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anonymous9:01 PM

trouble is the 'computer' poster might make people think its a different film or a cgi/computer generated version which it ain't.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't see how this could be labeled a scam even if Burton wasn't behind it. These stop motion films are so rare and this one is so wonderful that who wouldn't want to see this on the big screen again?

    ReplyDelete
  18. okay thankyou :)
Sally's dress and Shock's hat rim look really realistic, just the lighting i guess :P

i really need to know when the date for the release will be for the 3D verison, its my 16th birthday on the 23d of october and i was already having a tim burton themed party so if this is out for then i would so book the whole cinema screen to have a party(dont know how i would afford that though). and will it be shown in the uk. cos if it isnt i wont get to see it ,noooo, there's a possible flaw in my perfect verison. but it will be so great. it was the first ever video and dvd i bought with my own money. i so love every thing burton-esque.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anonymous5:03 PM

the amount of comments(on other sites) that i have seen saying that the re-alteration thingymibob of nbc will make it seem a new film to kids and that they will jump on the band wagon with it is a wrong idea that people have in there minds. and dont think either there will only be like emos and goths that will see it. tim burton is a true virsionary and kids can see that, and i dont know any teenagers who dont know that the nightmare before christmas isnt already a film.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous9:12 PM

two words "fuckin kickass!" nightmare is my favorite movie of all time and does any1 know if it will play in mason city i hope so and will it come out on dvd after its in theaters?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous5:39 PM

I would LOVE to see this.. Hopefully it will be in a cinema I could easily get to... thats if they bring it out in the UK. I never got to see it in the cinema as I was 3 or 4 when it first came out. so being able to see this in 3d would be a dream come true

And for people who are against this. I think they would need Tim Burton's and Henry Selick's consent to make this into 3D or at least let them have a say in it

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous9:16 PM

^ Tim and Henry are RE-MASTERING it. not just giving them their approvea... they are doing it themselves (with a team of course)

I don't care what 'other' people think of this.. i like it as a Burton and Stop motion fan.. the More new 'fans' it brings the better.. its a brilliant movie regardless.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anonymous10:53 PM

Can anyone tell me what theaters it will play at?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous4:20 AM

Dude, I really can't wait to go see this movie...Tim Burton Freak here. But I am just worried that it will ruin the orignal classic movie by doing this. I mean, don't get me wrong, I would Love to go see this, but I just don't like what they are doing. I like TNBC just the way it is. I would rather go see it the way it is in the movie theater than rather see it "real-like" anytime. I am just a all orignal person. I don't like what they are doing to the orignal classic movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas! I mean has'nt Disney already done enough remakes? But because I Love Tim Burton's movies and I especially Love The Nightmare Before Christmas, I can't wait to go see this! I guess the more people who know about it the better! Especially with all those people who think anything related to gothic or black is "so bad'" I think it would be nice to let people see that not all goths like me are bad. I just can't wait to go see this, even though I hate what they did to it. I mean come on you can't beat the classics!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous3:58 PM

Can anyone find a page that gives any indication of where this film will be showing?
Is it even showing in the UK, or will we have to wait for ages?

I just saw the trailer for 'Nightmare 3D' [not the actual title] which plays in front of 'Monster House' in some theaters. I have to say, AWESOME! This new digital form of 3D is beyond anything we've seen before. It's not the red/blue gimmick from the 50s, and it's not the blurry, double vision version we've had of late. From a single projector, a 3D image is shown which is as colorful and as crisp as any 2D film. This is the new technology that has George Lucas so excited, he's having all six space films done up in 3D for 'Star Wars" big 30th next year. If you can't wait til October, go see this short trailer (as well as Monster House) to get a taste of what we're in for!

This is pure Guines. I love the Nightmar Before Christmas.Because i was born in 1992, It was my very first movie i ever saw. This makes it better and i will remember it in the near future, or in the next day. Thax Stop motion animators for taking 7 days to make 10sec of film. i love you

I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas the first time when I was less than three years old, i'm an avid burtonite and I support his films. This isn't a scam for money, but actually has been in the works for a while (so i've heard/read). I think it's a way for the newer generations to see the film, and a different way for the old orignal fans to see. The Nightmare Before Christmas was Disney's first stop animation, at first they hated the idea and didn't want to be a part of it, but let Burton continue closer to the touchtone branch. Now Disney is in full support, ironic isn't it?
The only real difference I can see from this is that it's a new perspective, it won't be bad CGI knowing burton, but done with craft and skill that none can match.
It's not a scam, he's not selling out, they probably wont give you bad blue and red cheap glasses.
You can see a sneak preview before Monster House (in fact, the director of monster house is a big fan of Tim Burton).
TNBC is the orignal, it's what Tim Burton is most famous for, well, among the masses anyway. Though not directed by burton... who was busy with batma, it's still his, and he has every right to do this anyway.
I'm sure it will be amazing :)

Wow this is cool! I was to young to see it first time it came out and this will be so cool! I pray for a midnight showing!

    ReplyDelete

this is one huge kick in the pants for Disney, cos they hated the idea, and now they have to eat their words!

I agree with wombstar. I think this is a brilliant idea. No one has done anything like this, so maybe this is the beginning of something. If it is the beginning, im glad they chose the best stop motion animation movie to try it out. I think this will be amazing!

all of you say your fans well your NOTHING compared to me and i have people who could vouch for that

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous5:12 PM

HA. Wanna bet? I have people who can vouch for me too. Did you ever send Tim Burton's agent a birthday card for Tim? Every year for the past several years? With a picture you hand drew? Of Willy Wonka? In multi-media? Colored Pencils, Markers, Crayon, and Ink? Hmmm? Have you seen all but one of his movies? Did you see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the SECOND SHOWING THE FIRST DAY IT CAME OUT?! Do you own a NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS SIGNED SCRIPT?!?!? SIGNED BY TIM BURTON, DANNY ELFMAN, AND CHRIS SARANDON?! Do you own a BOOK on how they made the movie? A book about all of Tim's other movies? Two books WRITTEN by Tim Burton? Do you own T-shirt upon T-shirt of his movies? And do you have a SUPER HUGE SLEEPY HOLLOW POSTER?!??! Do you own a Vampire stuffed doll? Do you own Jack and Sally bean bag dolls OR THREE Sally Notebooks? And two copies of the Nightmare Before Christmas? VHS and DVD? A Sally cosmetic bag? A HUGE collection of NBC keychains? Four Jacks, a Sally, a Lock, a Shock, a skelekton reindeer, the Mayor, and the people who work at Hot Topic know I'm the Tim Burton girl. That's the only reason I go into that place. I own a Victor and Edward Scissorhand T-shirt, and a ton of NBC t-shirts. I've seen the Nightmare Before Christmas 167 times, and it keeps getting funnier, every SINGLE TIME I SEE IT!!! Not to mention the fact that you're talking to a dead guy!!!!!!! My walls are plastered with Tim Burton posters, and my friend calls me Mrs. Burton. I have the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack on my iPod and on CD. I listen to it ALL THE TIME. I CAN QUOTE THE MOVIE BACKWARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also HANDMADE A WEBSITE DEDICATED TO TIM BURTON, HIS MOVIES, HIS BIOGRAPHY, AND HIS LIFE www.geocities.com/worldoftimburton/welcome.html
I also have a set of Jack Skellington barrettes. And a long sleeved shirt!

    Biggest fan, indeed.

AND NOT TO MENTION THREE FOURTHS OF MY DVD COLLECTION ARE TIM'S!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous11:32 PM

    The poster says select theaters...

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anonymous4:03 AM

This beautifully difficult film was presented to a very lucky generation of people. Old movies are re-made ALL the time. This movie would be extremely difficult to remake so why not just make it 3D? It's easy enough for the skilled media workers and create a new generation of Nightmare fans!

    GO NBC!!!

  52. Anonymous1:24 PM

hi is this just in america caus am in england if so when it will in england

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous2:08 PM

Hmm. I'm seriously not sure, but I imagine it sorta HAS to come out overseas, because it doesn't say it's just American, and if it didn't come out over there, lots of people would miss out, and that's a lot less money for them. But since it's only select theaters, I'm guessing it would be in bigger cities, no matter what country.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anonymous2:20 AM

I would normally be agianst this, but since Tim Burton and the orginal crew is doing it. I'm not worried.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anonymous9:31 PM

ya no cause im normal. just because you buy a bunch of crap doesnt mean you are a number one fan.

Because I made a website devoted to the man? Does that count for nothing? What did you do?

    ReplyDelete

For all the UK fans out there I have just checked the main UK Disney/Buena Vista website and I'm sooooo excited to tell you that 'Nightmare 3D' gets released over here on the 1st December this year!!! Yay!

Kind of funny how disney gave it to touchstone, till it became a megahit, and now they're yanking back the rights to at least advertise for the remake. Still drooling, as this is my FAVORITE movie. *drool*

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous5:14 AM

It is a touchstone film. I think Disney's yankiing it back so they can get money but that's my out-of-control ten-year-old mind. I'm FOR SURE inviting my bf and his sister. SHe's gonna looooooove it in 3-D. I made her watch the original on dvd at my house, and she's like, "That was AWESOME! Let's watch it again." and we fell asleep during the seventh time lol.

I would be suckered in on a scam like that anyday. I LOVE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS AND TIM BURTON! And any true fan would be exstatic to see it in my opinion. And Im also very, VERY excited that Marilyn Manson is doing a lot of the songs. MARILYN MANSON ROCKS! I mean come on hes a rock god!

  82. Ya it is a scam and ya it does matter. Why release it to only certin, and very few theathers. It isntlike they dont make enough money. Tim Burton, has talent that can stand on its own. How greedy to not have it so people who would like to see his work can. People like me who can not because of physical disabilities that limit the extent of traveling and it is not showing anywere near an area where I can get to it. Tim Burton should be ashamed, for being such a sell out. People should boycott it! However we are at a point in America where people are content with being scammed, and actually enjoy it.
