The latest news about the upcoming rerelease of The Nightmare Before Christmas is that there will also be a new double CD soundtrack in stores. One disc will features Elfman's original music while the other will have covers of the songs by artists (and Nightmare fans) such as Marilyn Manson, Fiona Apple and Panic! at the Disco. This sounds like it could be either genius or completely awful. The CD will be released October 24 and
you can read more about it here.
Marilyn, eh? I've always thought he would be good in a Tim Burton film...being a close friend of Johnny and all . I'll definately be looking out for this cd. Fantastic !
ReplyDeleteOMG, why?!?!??!?!? They're going to ruin the greatest soundtrack in the history of ever!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy ? What other reason could there be? Money! Still, should be fun.
ReplyDeleteOkay, okay. Good point, burtonfan. That was just my cynical side coming out. If I could sing and had the opportunity , I would definately jump on this tribute, myself.
ReplyDeleteYeah! This is gonna be great!!!
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not, Manofnothing. It will be terrible. And I'll cry.
ReplyDeletefiona apple will be great at Sallly's Song
ReplyDeleteAll the artists are huge fans of this movie.. they wont ruin it.
ReplyDeleteApparantly they aren't singing, just re-doing the music. (i think i read that somewhere but i'm not 100% sure)
im afraid. i hope Marilyn Manson doesnt ruin TNBCs innocence in the song he does. I will download some songs before i buy this cd for sure.
ReplyDeletethis sounds exciting, ihope they get rid of that corny ending on the nightmare cd (I didn't like that, sorry for those who did) and i wish they'd take out the naration on the main titles, i doubt they will, but it will be great to hear those other songs too :)
ReplyDeleteReading this made me die a little inside. I am so disappointed. I mean ffs, they may be fans but this is horrible. It is a disgrace to the soundtrack and a terrible shame. This makes me so furious. I f*cking hate emo music. I don't understand how they can let this go ahead; the only reason I can find for this is purely commercial.
ReplyDeleteF*ck this sh*t!
Aimed at the post above me:
ReplyDeleteThis isn't My Chemical Romance we're talking about here. Since when is Marilyn Manson and Fiona Apple emo music? While Manson isn't exactly my personal taste, they are both respectable artists and are definitely more fresh and original than the emo sludge released by many other bands like Good Charlotte and others. Panic! At the Disco are also a very fresh and original bunch of young musicians. And you forget that all of these people are die-hard fans of Tim and TNBC.
A disgrace to the soundtrack? I love TNBC and it's one of if noy my favourite Danny Elfman soundtrack, but this isn't exactly Beethoven we're talking about here. TNBC soundtrack has not (yet) reached a level at which you can say that any type of cover is desecrating its genius.
Does anyone on this planet know what emo is? it stands for emotional.. this whole "emo" label that gets placed on bands like Panic! and FOB is ridiculus.. Every artist sings about emotions so in that case the stones are emo, rihanna is emo, faith hill is emo .. get over it. It's the dumbbest thing i've ever heard of.
ReplyDeleteNO! I WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN! I FORBID IT!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI AGREE!!!! WE MUST STOP IT FROM BEING MADE!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised they didn't get Alice Cooper to do a song for the soundtrack. He's one of my favorite music performers and would be absolutely great in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAQlice....:::laughs::: I think Tim might have had a kick out of that. Yes, pity he isn't on the c.d. " Welcome to my nightmare...." Heh.
ReplyDeleteAwww, bugger...Where did THAT come from ? AQlice? ALICE.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited, though im not a fan of Panic! at the Disco. It always seemed like Marilyn Manson should be part of something Tim burton directs. And this'll only skyrocket TNBC popularity even more I think.
ReplyDeletePanic!...grrr..

ReplyDeleteFALL OUT BOY TOO! this is a just disaster waiting to happen...
ReplyDeleteDear, dear, dear. A bit too much hostility over a bloody c.d, wouldn't you say? Far more crucial things in the world to complain about, aren't there? Really, now, this is nothing to go ballistic over...., is it?
ReplyDeleteYou people are becoming irrational. It's only entertainment. I'm done with this thread.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the idea.. i think its wrong.
ReplyDeletebut you don't have to buy it.
Imagine if you were one of those bands.. would you say no? i wouldn't.
money sure.. but at the same time theses 'fans' want to pay tribute to one of there favorite movies.. thats not a problem.
I wont be buying it.. because i hate all those bands.. but if i liked them then sure i would.. its personal taste.. however there choose of bands to take part is defiantly suspect..
Also the type of music Tim enjoys or used to.. and Danny.. I'm looking forward to an official statement form one of them. i want to know there take on this horrible mutation of a cd.
i hate it but im trying to be open about it to.. unfortunately my hatred is getting the better of me.. need to relax.. its just a cd.
I know it's just a CD. It's the principle of the fact that they're messing with absolute genious and bringing in these people that have NOTHING to do with it in the least and REMAKING the songs. I know it's a tribute, but the fact that they're messing with gold bothers me to the very core of my soul.
ReplyDeletei'm a huge fan and i still don't want to ruin danny's genius... whyyyyy tim, whyyy? :(
ReplyDeleteI fear this. I mean, MARILYN MANSON!!! The guy who makes art out of dead people? It's Disney's fault, not Tim's, they are making him do this.
ReplyDeleteP.s. Do you think the C.D. will have that Blink 182 song that mentions Nightmare? Probabley not.
Nightmare belongs to the creative individuals, not emos.
ReplyDeleteAmen, label. But they shouldn't be making it. And emos shouldn't try to make it their own. They aren't the only ones who are "weird enough to understand the genious of Tim Burton." Okay, that's seriously what one of them said to me. To ME. One of Tim Burton's biggest fans. You don't have to be a STEREOTYPE to like a movie. All you people who think you have to dress all in black to like Tim Burton, you have no sense.
ReplyDeletePickles and Carrots Ala Mode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
ReplyDeleteThey ain't making Tim do it.. because he has nothing to do with the music. Disney can do what they want..
ReplyDeleteI fact i will be buying it.. those Elfman demos are worth the price.
im pissed.
ReplyDeletemarilyn is okay..so's fiona.
but, f**kin, panic? fob? WTF!!!
i hope you get to fart on the day this cd comes outTim,
ReplyDeletei bet money will come out =}
$$$
call me to give me some:1(619)474-1017
Thank you, Bleeding on the Floor. People like that annoy me. Not emos in general, but people who think that a particular stereotype own people. It's ridiculous!
ReplyDeletewow. i dont think I've ever heard Tim stuff stereotyped as emo...but then again im sure people dont run around yelling it out.
ReplyDeleteim definately not emo...actually im super-happy-hyper-cute girl but I adore ma TNBC! People who say Tim stuff is emo have clearly never seen the movies as they are all deep down happy-ending movies...cept maybe Edward Scissorhands...but that still makes me happy.
TNBC is the most joyful movie, even with skeletons and such. Wheres the emo in that?!
But to the person who was saying that emo = music about emotions, "stones are emo" thing. Emo has become a way to describe bands which are more on the sad, whiney side witht he hair in their face, etc. Really if we cant label things then what is pop? rock? funk?
anyhoo, im not hating on the emo kids but they do obviously exist. And some are quite proud of it.
Ps. This is one dramatic thread... lol XD
emo is your mom not watching Tim movies cause shes busy watching you fart out anger
ReplyDeletewhat the hell panic! arghh why?, damn they turned something legendary and taken it over with the damn emo scene!
ReplyDeletewhy do people obsessover the nightmare before christmas being "emo"? its not, hell none of tims stuff is!!!
i mean sure marilyn manson is one screwed dude and all but do a muc better job, as he is a creative yet obscene indavidual as such,
here as painic claim to be an emo punk band, how can you lable your self?
sorry to interupt, but they have some awesome 3D pictures from nightmare before christmas, if you can get some of those red and blue 3d glasses it is amazing!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.joelfletcher.com/3d-nightmare_files/page25-1027-full.html
I vote for completely awful.
ReplyDeleteI don't like Marilyn Manson, but I agree with Bleeing on the Floor also. Why is everyone so upset over this ?
ReplyDeleteEvery one is so upset because this is Tim Burton's orignal classic movie were talking about! And there not even sure if they are going to be doing this, it hasent even been said by Disney them selves. I hope not, because these are Danny's lines and lyerics! And an orginal classic movie!Like I said before this movie is a bad idea!I personally am not an emo person more of a heavy metal person like Rammstein...but I am not going to dis. on other people.I just like the movie the way it is. And I guess the new cd will be okay because it has 10 new soundtracks or lyerics in the new cd.
ReplyDeleteOnion Soup is my HOMEFRY!
ReplyDeleteThanks A LOT for the link Jack ^
ReplyDeletewhat the fuck! are all mad!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm ok with it. If they f*ck up the soundtrack it's their problem
ReplyDeletePanic and the Disco and FallOut Boy need to go to emo hell and burn!
ReplyDeleteI Heard Fall Out Boy is on there. Finally my two favs togather! YAZY!!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW Jack! That is cool! Amazing but did you know that 3-D glasses can damage your eyes if you leave them on long enough? Thats pritty bad!http://www.stereovision.net/archive/archive_0101.htm
ReplyDeleteThey are bad for your eyes! Beware!
I agree with most people here..this revising of the soundtrack seems a bit.....NOT GOOD.
ReplyDeleteBUT SO IS ALL THE MASS MARKETING HAPPENING WITH THIS MOVIE!
but to what "Label" said..
Gunther von Hagens makes art out of dead people..marilyn manson uses....water colour! ...OHH SPOOKY, LOL
I don't understand why everyone is all pissy about this soundtrack. if you don't like it then don't listen to it. i mean its kinda stupid when you say things like "burn in hell emos". just don't listen to it if you don't like it and shut the hell up

ReplyDeleteu know.....who cares???? i love all thos bands..and im not EMO and i LOVE this movie....actually im a preppy soccer player....probably the exact opposite of emo or goth...so tim burton chose those bands to perform for his CD so thats his choice....it fits for him and that shouldnt matter to n e 1 else exept for the makers of the movie(TIM BURTON) god! stupid people around here...
ReplyDeleteMarilyn Manson does a fucking awesome cover to This Is Halloween. Also, the rest of the songs, cept Dannys revised ones, suck so bad. Fiona is good, but meh, she could of done better. I love the origional soundtrack even more then the covers. But I do admit, Marilyn blew me away with this. I am not a big fan of him ither... Oh well.
ReplyDelete/b/tard FOREVER
I agree anom. I do also think that Marilyn did kick a** on the This is Halloween.!! Rocks!! I wish that on number 5 that they would put the begining of that song with Marilyn's song when he sung. Would of been killer!!
ReplyDeleteYeah so al u people suck and dont knwo anything cuz it will be awsome!! It is awsome!! Listen to it then run ur faces!!
