Update: "Frankenweenie" Due Oct. 2012
The release date of the stop-motion update of Frankenweenie has been postponed. Originally, the film was to be released on March 9th, 2012. But Disney has now moved the theatrical release date of the animated feature to October 5th, 2012.
While this means waiting a few more months to see Burton's long-awaited update, it might be for the better in terms of Frankenweenie's box office success. Releasing it closer to Halloween might be better for ticket sales, especially for a stop-motion film that might even be shot in black and white.
Frankenweenie is currently in production and will be released in Disney Digital 3D.
