Max Casella interview

The Collective recently interviewed actor Max Casella, who appeared in Ed Wood, by telephone. He talked about working with Burton, having his trailer cleared out by the real Paul Marco, and more. You can read the full interview here!
Speaking of interviews, MTV has one with Jack Nicholson where he badmouths The Dark Knight and the casting of Heath Ledger as the Joker. While I wouldn't want to really see Nicholson playing the Joker again at his age, I agree with him that the later movies in the series (including Batman Begins) never "really captured Tim Burton's spirit". What do you guys think?

While i love burtons batman movies. Batman Begins was never intended to try capture his spirit. Its a total reboot of the batman world and i think nicholson is stupid for not realising this. He seriously cant think he can play the joker again at his age and he did he forget his character also died!

  2. I was just reading this! What a great opportunity. It was a lot of fun to read. I could almost see and hear Tim with that lens going about the sets (and thinking of the real Paul Marco meeting Max Casella's "Paul Marco").

This is the same way Gene Wilder reacting with CatCF. Ledger is not trying to reinact or copy Nicholson, but portray his interpretation. Anyway, the Chris Nolan series is much more different than any of them and Begins is the best next to the first Batman

I didn't particularly like Batman Begins at all. The first ones with the Tim Burton affiliation were much better I think. Even Batman and Robin, which was a little goofy, I still enjoyed better than the new one.

    Go Jack,

But i think his being a bit big headed.. theses batman movies are meant to be complete different.

Joel's were to campy, Burton's were to dark.. so they needed/wanted something in between and thats what there getting.

I didn't like BB but i think I'll enjoy this one more.

Sorry Jack but this isn't a remake, or anything to do with Tim Burton.. i don't see what his problem is other then he WANTS to play the joker again.

I don't think Burton's Batman was too dark, I thought it was too "animated" and that's how a lot of others feel.
I, myself, like the "animated" style..but whatever. Jack Nicholson is just jealous that he's getting closer to death and nobody really cares. Hahaha. And seriously, Gene Wilder did the same freaking thing with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Get over it, geez. It's two different interpretations told by two different directors who have two different views of Batman. For the love of God, shut up.

I like Burton's, but Batman Begins is the best Batman movie ever made. I used to love the original more, until I saw Begins and it is really inferior. I tried not to believe Begins was better, but it really is. It is a better story, just told better, as hard as it is to admit. I still love Keaton and Nicholson.

I agree! As much as the original means to me being a kid and loving it, Begins is the ultimate batman movie thus far. It is the closest and and most loyal to the comics. I kidna liked the duality thing of having the joker as the parents killer but there just wasnt the comic book spirit to it. Also the gordon character was totally under used in the old movies. Bring on the dark knight!

  9. Burton's Batman intrested me and I don't care for comics the new Batman movies are to boring for me. Jack is just a cranky old man who needs to complain about anything. I love Tim Burton's Batman movies and if they would have let him do all of them they would be better then they are
