Nightmare Before Christmas 3D leaves screens

Now that Halloween is over, Nightmare 3D has stopped playing just about everywhere. For those of you who weren't lucky enough to see it this time, Disney has promised they intend to bring it back for future Halloweens, hopefully on more screens. And if you're interested in box office figures, Nightmare 3D earned over $6 million in less than two weeks of release, pushing the film's lifetime box office to over $56 million, meaning it's passed the box office totals of both Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands.

  4. It was fantastic in 3D. I hope they bring it back at some time. I don't think I'll be able to watch it any other way!

They probally want to try to get the movie out on dvd before Christmas or the holidays so that they can make a profit off of it. I can't wait! Good thing I went and saw it!

doubt it will be on dvd.. if they want to keep it for other Halloween.. it wouldn't be a very good marketing ploy...

ratings were kinda disappointing but i guess it was selective theaters.

I am so dissapointed. I tried to see it from the begining, but no theatre in my state was showing it. Well, I can confirm that it will be back in theatres next Halloween in more areas. Go to Box Office Mojo if you don't believe me...

I did buy the new soundtrack, and I absolutely love it. Considering it was Halloween when I bought it and I had exactly enough money for it. The new covers are not that bad at all. Hey, I couldn't see the movie, but getting the soundtrack was the next best thing.

Well, if anyone missed the 3-D version, don't fret - The film will be re-released again on the 19th of October, 2007 - and in a much wider release this time, according to them. The Nightmare is back!

TNBC is probably not being sold because Disney felt it was time to "put it back in the vaults" like they do for almost every movie.

I wouldn't be so anxious about the inability to purchase TNBC anywhere. I just checked on Amazon and indeed they don't seem to be carrying it on DVD anymore - but don't worry. Usually, when a studio pulls a DVD off the shelf like this, it's because they're preparing a new edition of it to be released in a matter of time. I'd say that it's a safe bet, especially in the wake of the recent theatrical re-release, that Disney are preparing a new DVD edition for the film. Keep your eyes peeled for news on the subject.

  25. Quite right, monotreme (what a curious name) . No doubt they're devising a way to milk even MORE money from the film , considering their lack of originality as of late.

haha deppthinker great name... however i think you were a tad harsh alright, its been out fro ages now nearly a decade and its my favorite film of all time, i think its cool that they made it 3d because to me this film has always been about trying differant things that arnt used that much, its cool and i cant wait to see it in 3d (its out over in england over christmas rather then halloween?!?!) so yeh ... :P

  28. Thanks for the compliment, "rosybob". It came to me in a dream....Pfffftttt....Nah, just seemed to fit. Little play on words, coupled with the fact that I do tend to obsess about Johnny a tad...but enough about that. Harsh, you say ? Regarding what, pray tell? My snide remark about Disney? Can't help it , mate. I hate what they've become. Still, yes, it was quite impressive in 3-D , wasn't it ?...so no real complaints there. England, eh ? My... occasionally "better half" is from Northwest London.

  29. Oops. Thick little me. You haven't seen it yet, have you ? So sorry. Christmas is just as appropriate a time to see it as Halloween , dontcha think? No worries. Go on, then. Sacrifice your hard or hardly earned money for the Disney cads and see this film. It really is stunning.

woo deppthinker funkydory... england not as fun as it sounds though (although i live like and hour and a half away from were mr burton films *aaah*) :D

    ReplyDelete
  32. Funkydory...Now that's original. :::grins::: Not sure...Did you mean that as sarcasm ? I can't tell from here. In any case, been there, done that. I must admit I was a tad disappointed in the place the first time I visited , though I had no glamorous or romantic notions about the place. Well, maybe just a BIT more romantic , given the history of the island...Love the way ya just stack one century on top of another, placing gaudy , touristy shops so close to medieval cemetaries and the like...but speaking of Mr. Burton's ties to England, have they yet torn down that Metropolis-like structure he had constructed for Charlie and the Choc Factory? what an amazing edifice that was.

This post is a total lie. It's still playing in 168 theaters, like it was in the beginning of the run. Go see the movie, it's still playing!

    ReplyDelete
  35. In reply to the previous post, it is still playing in most 3D theaters, but it won't be around much longer because the box office has dropped off considerably. So catch it while you still can!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yep, TBC....Unfortunately , many people must have thought going to see this film on Halloween was little more than a novelty rather than the incredibly innovative film it was.
