Corpse Bride fell out of the top 10 at the North American box office this weekend, but still earned over $2 million according to estimates. That pushes its domestic total to $50.6 million, which means it's surpassed the box office total of The Nightmare Before Christmas already. Of course, ticket prices were much lower back in 1993, but it's still an impressive achievement for a stop-motion animated film to be so successful in this age of computer animation.
The film was released in the U.K. this weekend, with many other countries to follow in the month ahead, which should boost its worldwide box office significantly.
I wish you would post the world wide box office too,when the results come in at least.
ReplyDeleteThat's so great that Corpse Bride is doing so good, considering so many people would rather go see some action thingy. I absolutely can't wait for it to come out on dvd with audio commentary! Congrats, Corpse Bride crew for attracting so many viewers!

ReplyDeletei felt that the corpses bride was kinda a sequel type after NBC. it wasnt the same characters but...there were the same music types.....same type of characters..but i guess i liked it soo yay! i love tim burton soo yah i think my faveorite story is the one about Vincent thinking he was vinvent price..it was awesome!!

ReplyDeleteYay! I plan to see this movie a third time, so I'm helping! I adore it, and I'm really happy it's doing well! Actually, I asked my theatre for one of the posters for it, which they usually throw out, but they had to give all the Corpse Bride stuff back. I guess they figured they could make even more by selling it on ebay. But really, this is the best movie I've seen in a while.
ReplyDeleteA classmate of mine is also a huge fan of Tim and a family member gave her a Corpse Bride sweatjacket for her birthday. It has a picture of the skeleton band on it.
